Napoleons Manchester is pleased to present four mahjong tables, available every day from midday in our gaming lounge. The Chinese tile game has taken on a life of its own over the centuries, finding a firm place at the finest casino venues.
Mahjong rules can appear a little involved, depending on the style you play, but it is simple to pick up as you play along. Based on a grid of 144 tiles using Chinese characters and symbols. There are three separate suits, each of which are split into numbered runs (from 1 to 9).
In a similar vein to poker, your aim is to make a mahjong – a specific combination of tiles that is traditionally four sets of three and one pair. To do this, you will need to be strategic about tiles you discard, and those you pick up as the game travels from player to player.
Blackjack

Blackjack is a simple game played against a dealer, or ‘The House’. You begin by placing cash on the table to buy chips and place your bet. The dealer will deal two cards. When it comes to your turn, you can either ask the dealer for more cards, or confirm, ‘no more cards’. The objective is to have a better hand than the dealer, without exceeding 21. Exceeding 21 means you’re bust.
Roulette
Roulette is the quintessential casino classic. The action takes place at a roulette wheel, where a single ball is spun across 37 numbers, 0 to 36. Numbers are split into two colours, red and black.
Players will place bets on a single or range of numbers, the colour red or black or whether the number is odd or even. The croupier spins the wheel, then spins the ball in the opposite direction. When the ball lands, the winning number and colour determines who wins and who loses.
